Restaurateur Nick Tsigaris, the owner of Flames Eatery in downtown San Jose, has transformed a prime corner nearby into Nemea Greek Taverna, a chic home for Hellenic cuisine. The former E&O space is now all Mediterranean, with paidakia (lamb chops), souvlaki (filet of beef skewers), grilled octopus, fried calamari, rizogalo (rice pudding), loukomades (honeyed doughnuts), plus Greek wines and a full bar.
Details: Open weekdays for lunch, dinner, weekends for dinner from 4 p.m. 96 S. First St., San Jose. 408-279-4225; http://nemeagreektaverna.com.
Want food with your Fry's?
The first Fry's Electronics food fair was such a hit that they've partnered with Whisk events (www.whisksf.com) to do it again.
On Friday, March 29, Fry's Foodie Truck Friday will host Del Popolo, 4505 Meats, Roli Roti Rotisserie, Tacolicious, Frozen Kuhsterd, Chromatic Coffee and Palo Alto Brewing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sunnyvale store, 1077 E. Arques Ave.
Besides yummy food truck fare, the real draw at this event is table seating -- no scrambling for a curb to sit on while eating.
Plus, the first 400 shoppers of the day who spend $10 or more in the store will get $10 for lunch.
