SAN JOSE -- Nimble Storage has leased a North San Jose office complex where it plans to employ 750 people, a deal that highlights the tech boom in the Bay Area's largest city.
Nimble leased all of a campus totaling 165,000 square feet on River Oaks Parkway between Cisco (CSCO) Way and Zanker Road that developer Bixby Land created through a $10 million renovation of the three buildings.
"It's clear there is still pretty significant tenant demand for new spaces in Silicon Valley," said Bill Halford, Bixby's president.
Nimble has 225 employees in San Jose in nearby offices totaling 55,000 square feet, so the new site allows for significant expansion and potential hiring.
"We are committed to growing our company in San Jose," said Carolyn Crandall, a vice president with Nimble. "The Bay Area and Silicon Valley have a great talent pool."
To appeal to tech companies, Bixby renovated the decades-old buildings extensively, adding modern exteriors and interiors, along with a large common area featuring an olive grove and fire pits.
The deal was arranged through commercial realty brokerages Cresa Partners and Cassidy Turley.
"The modern buildings, outstanding landscaping, the location and the amenities really appealed to Nimble," said David Tipton, a Cresa principal executive.
Bixby Land undertook a similar renovation of two Santa Clara buildings and created a campus that Infoblox leased in 2012.
"Companies are increasingly seeking office space with dynamic, collaborative work environments and high-quality amenities in order to attract and retain top talent," Halford said.
