GILROY -- A 2.8-magnitude quake was recorded about 6 miles east of Gilroy at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday;, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was estimated at being about 6 miles deep, and was felt in Ben Lomond and Watsonville as well as Gilroy and San Martin.
Gilroy police dispatchers said they felt a small, quick shake but were not receiving any calls from concerned residents.
The quake, which was on the Calaveras Fault, came a day after another shaker of the same magnitude that occurred further south, about 16 miles southeast of Gilroy and two miles south of Hollister.
