What is dubbed the ``Los Angeles Tea Party'' will feature speakers, including actress Victoria Jackson, explaining ``what can be done to get our voices heard that we're displeased with the budget, stimulus package and extra taxes we're going to bear because of the new budget," said Ashley Ingram, a Republican activist and one of the event's organizers.
The event is part of the ``Nationwide Chicago Tea Party,'' which is urging members of Congress to ``repeal all your irresponsible spending bills'' or ``we will retire you at the ballot box in 2010.''
It is organized by operators of the Top Conservatives on Twitter Web site.
There will be no actual dumping of tea into Santa Monica Bay because ``we want to prove Republicans can be ecologically friendly,'' Ingram said.
The event comes a week after Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law an estimated $12.8 billion tax increase that he said was necessary to eliminate a projected $40 billion budgetary shortfall.
The federal budget proposal unveiled Thursday called for increasing taxes on households earning more than $250,000 a year to provide for increased health care.
``We've had it with irresponsible politicians using us as an ATM,'' Ingram said.
