The first break on North Hayworth Avenue was reported at 1:25 a.m., according to Gale Harris, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. DWP crews restored water service by 11:30 a.m., she said.
The second break on Hi Point Street was reported at 2:04 a.m., she said. Water service was restored by 11 a.m.
Harris did not have the exact addresses of the breaks.
The Hayworth break affected 30 residential customers, Harris said. The Hi Point break affected 50 residential customers and one business. These two water main breaks add to the recent rash of pipe ruptures.
Early Tuesday a major pipeline broke in Valley Village, creating a sinkhole that nearly swallowed a 44,000-pound fire engine. That break came as city crews were still scrambling to repair the damage from an unrelated rupture Saturday night that flooded neighborhoods in Studio City.
