SUN VALLEY - All lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway were closed between Sunland Boulevard and Hollywood Way early today after a fuel tanker carrying about 1,900 gallons of gasoline was involved in a collision and leaked fuel.
The collision involving two vehicles and the fuel tanker occurred about 10:35 p.m. Wednesday on the northbound freeway just south of Glenoaks Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said. The drivers were not hurt.
All lanes were closed until about 4 a.m., when the southbound lanes were reopened. The northbound lanes were reopened about two hours later.
The trucker told authorities that the tanker was carrying about 1,900 gallons of gas, and all of it spilled, CHP Officer Ed Jacobs said. There was no fire or evacuation involved in the fuel spill, Humphrey said. The CHP reported that gasoline did not seep into any drains.
