ONTARIO - The I.E. Food Truck Fest is returning to Citizens Business Bank Arena in May as part of an expanded two-day event.

In addition to food trucks and entertainment, organizers have introduced a barbecue competition to the May 5-6 festivities in Ontario.

"What we're trying to do here is create a food weekend," said David Pulido of the Hispanic Business Alliance, which is hosting the May 5 barbecue competition. "Barbecue is just one of those venues."

More than 30 barbecue teams will compete for trophies and cash prizes in the I.E. Dixie Salsa BBQ Competition. The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, Pulido said.

Other May 5 activities will include a live music competition, a car show and a children's activity zone, according to the news release.

On May 6 more than 40 gourmet food trucks will set up in the parking lot of Citizens Business Bank Arena for the I.E. Food Truck Fest, which was last held in October.

The event offers residents of San Bernardino and Riverside counties a rare opportunity to sample cuisine from gourmet food trucks.

Food trucks are subject to legal restrictions in San Bernardino and Riverside counties that aren't in place in Los Angeles and Orange counties, where food trucks are common.

Tickets for the events will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Feb. 1. Admission for each day is $10 or $8 in advance. A two-day pass will sell for $18 or $16 in advance, according to the news release.
