Gadget was last seen on Burbank and Laurel Canyon boulevards in North Hollywood at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. He got loose from his sitter's home while his parents were out of town. He is wearing a green collar with tags.
Gadget is one of 40 beagles the group rescued from a laboratory in Spain last November. Shannon Keith, founder of the Beagle Freedom Project, led the effort to free 40 beagles that had been bred for scientific experiments and product testing.
The animal rights attorney learned through Facebook that a secret research laboratory in Barcelona was closing down and intended to destroy its 72 beagles unless someone offered to take them within days.
Unable to wait for donations, Keith maxed out all of her credit cards to fly the beagles halfway across the world. Last November, Keith said the beagles were branded with tattoos on their ears and are terrified of loud noises.
As of 9:30 p.m. Friday, Gadget had not been found.
