Delbert (Bud) Tretter, 80, owner of the Marina Shipyard, 6100 E. Marina Dr., Long Beach, died Thursday at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, his son Jerry said today.
The Marina Shipyard has been family owned and operated since 1964. Bud Tretter worked several years to restore P-520, the crash rescue boat his son Jerry captained to welcome the USS Iowa when the battleship was being towed from San Francisco to be temporarily anchored three miles offshore from Long Beach. The battleship is now berthed permanently in San Pedro.
