FRESNO, Calif.—A Fresno police officer has shot and killed a man after a high-speed chase.
It's the sixth officer-involved shooting this year.
The Fresno Bee ( http://bit.ly/MLeb1W) says the 27-year-old man died at a hospital after he was shot Tuesday evening.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the man, a wanted parolee with a burglary conviction, was driving a stolen pickup truck when officers began following him.
Officers chased the truck through town at speeds of up to 70 mph before it crashed into a car, injuring a 43-year-old woman, and then hit a pole.
Dyer says an officer was trying to pull the man from the truck but he tried to drive away and another officer shot him.
