DUARTE - A trio of bears paid a visit to a vacant home in Duarte today, and at least one of them may have then wandered to a second house.

A bear and two cubs were reported at a vacant home in the 200 block of Greenbank Avenue at 1:18 p.m., according to sheriff's Lt. James Long.

A short time later, another bear -- possibly the adult animal seen at the Greenbank Avenue house -- was reported at a home in a cul de sac near Mount Olive Drive and Mount Olive Lane about a half-mile away, Long said.

State fish and game agents were on the scene, along with sheriff's deputies, trying to determine how to deal with the wayward bears, Long said.
