Detectives assigned to the Investigation's Bureau were working in the area of 60th Street and Orange Avenue at about 3 a.m. when the SWAT unit was brought in to serve a search warrant, said Nancy Pratt, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman.
"We are not releasing further details on it at this time because of the ongoing (investigation)," Pratt said.
SWAT was called out to the 6100 block of John Avenue last Thursday morning, after a North Long Beach man allegedly shot a city code enforcement inspector in the face.
The victim was treated for a graze wound to the eyebrow and the suspect, 51-year-old Anthony Gorospe, 51, now faces 15 felony counts, including premeditated attempted murder of the injured city inspector and attempted murder of four police officers, who he fired upon during a seven-hour standoff.
Gorospe is scheduled to be formally arraigned on the charge this morning and is being held at the Men's Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $5 million.
