HIGHLAND - Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday were investigating an early morning crash at Boulder Avenue and Greenspot Road that left one person dead.

Amber Ann Muschwitz, 18, of Redlands was walking in the bike lane west on Greenspot just west of Orange Street in Highland when she was struck by a black 2004 Nissan 350Z driven by Bobby Magby, 74, of Highland, authorities said.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman.

Muschwitz was taken to St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino where she was pronounced dead at 6:47 a.m.

Witness statements indicated a second car was involved but fled just before authorities arrived, according to a sheriff's news release.

No information on the driver of that vehicle has been released.

Muschwitz recently graduated from Citrus Valley High School in Redlands.

Several people who knew Muschwitz showed up at the scene of the accident Wednesday afternoon to leave flowers at a makeshift memorial.

Some gathered at the memorial, taking time to hold hands in prayer for the victim's family.
