The city of Long Beach's Sustainability office set up a "parklet" in a parking space in 5800 block of Second Street in Belmont Shore on Friday afternoon.

Parklets are part of national urban movement to create parks in underutilized street parking spots. Long Beach has allowed several restaurants to create parklets outside their business since January 2012.

The parklets include a patio, planters, trees, benches, cafe tables with chairs, fountains, artwork, sculptures and often bicycle parking.
