At the conclusion of a preliminary hearing that lasted nearly three days, Judge Ariadne Symons ruled Michael Neal Miller held on all of the counts he was charged with.
Dominic Mower, 37, was shot in the head at the Prospect Street building where he lived. His 22-year-old friend was also shot, but she survived her injuries and was able to speak with investigators in the days after.
Prosecutor Johanna Schonfield presented evidence that Miller and Mower had stolen a quantity of gold together, and Miller apparently was angry because he felt he had been ripped off somehow.
Miller, who remains in custody at Santa Cruz County Jail, is due back in court Nov. 28 for arraignment.
