LOS ANGELES — Several candidates filed papers this weekend to run on March 5 in Los Angeles' 11th and 15th City Council district races.

Saturday was the last day for candidates to declare their intention to run, and the first day to obtain nominating petitions to collect voters' signatures. The completed petitions are due back by Dec. 5.

In the 11th District - where Councilman Bill Rosendahl has opted not to seek a new term for health reasons - those who filed papers are community advocate Frederick Sutton; teacher Odysseus Bostick; Mark Darius Frank, airports contract analyst; Mike Bonin, Rosendahl's chief deputy; engineer Gregg Aniolek; prosecutor Tina Hess; and Ronnie McCowan, a youth sports organizer.

Two people have filed to run against Councilman Joe Buscaino in the 15th District: minister and disability advocate James Law and Mark Anthony Contreras, a member of the Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council.

Those planning to run against Los Angeles school board member Steve Zimmer, whose 4th District includes the Westside, are Jeneen Robinson, education advocate and minister; Kate Anderson, parent and child advocate; Franny Parrish, library aide and advocate; and Samuel Paul Whitehead, a school council administrator.
