DALY CITY -- After a frantic day of searching, authorities located an 11-year-old boy whose father thought he was missing since Friday afternoon. Police had been looking for the boy known as "Ren," since he disappeared near Thomas R. Pollicita Middle School in Daly City. He was supposed to go to a friend's house for a slumber party, but never showed up.
Officers discovered that Ren went to another friend's house but did not tell his father. His father found out he was missing when he called the home where his son was supposed to be and was told he never came there.
According to Sgt. Michael Barton, of Daly City police, the boy's father was badly shaken since the youth went missing and so detectives worked through the night and all day Monday on the case. Police worked with the school district's phone tree to call numerous parents and around 6 p.m. the boy was located at the second friend's house.
