PLEASANTON -- An argument escalated into a fight that ended when one man stabbed another at an apartment complex Wednesday night, police said.

The stabbing was report about 9 p.m. at the complex in the 3800 block of Vineyard Avenue. The suspect and the victim know each other, police said, but they did not identify either person.

The victim, a 30-year-old Livermore resident, suffered a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital; the injury was non-life-threatening, police said.

The suspect is a 33-year-old Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds, wearing a black shirt of jacket and blue jeans, police said.

Police did not have a motive for the stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to call Pleasanton police at 925-931-5100.
