Members of the Pomona Rotary Club delivered 120 dictionaries to two Pomona Unified School District elementary schools this week.

The dictionaries will be given away to third graders at Diamond Point and Armstrong elementary schools in Diamond Bar, said Carol Wilt, Pomona Rotary Club president.

Although the club has supported children's reading activities in the past, this was the first time it donated reference books to school children, Wilt said.

Donating the dictionaries offers the club a way of supporting education in addition to helping instill in children the concept of helping others.

"It encourages them to use a reference book and to learn big words like philanthropy," Wilt said.
