LOS ANGELES—Authorities have identified three men who were arrested following the shooting of a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy.

The deputy and several other members of an anti-gang detail approached a group of men in South Los Angeles Friday when the men took off. Authorities said at least three gunmen opened fire, striking the deputy in the abdomen.

He was in stable condition Sunday after undergoing surgery at a hospital.

The sheriff's department identified the suspects as 36-year-old Michael Cones and 24-year-olds Joe Childs and Brendan Caveness. They were booked for investigation of attempted murder and were being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
