MISSION HILLS - The westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Mission Hills remained backed up as investigators continued to look for clues four hours after a woman was killed and a child was injured in a crash.

All lanes were reopened this morning.

The slow lane is closed for the investigation on the westbound 118 just east of the Golden State (5) Freeway, where the crash was reported at 7:07 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Rescuers arriving on the scene found a woman and a boy about two years old trapped in a gray sedan that had slammed into a pole supporting signs for the interchange, Humphrey said.

The boy was rescued as he was secured in a car seat, Humphrey said, but the woman's body remained in the severely damaged vehicle for at least an hour.

The child was taken to a hospital and was believed to be in fair condition, Humphrey said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.

The relationship between the woman and the child was unknown.
