LONG BEACH — A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a Metro Blue Line train at about 12:20 p.m. today near a Long Beach Boulevard train station just south of Sixth Street.

The train was just pulling out of the station and was moving at a slow speed when it hit the pedestrian, according to Will Nash, a spokesman with the Long Beach Fire Department.

The victim was removed from beneath the train by emergency responders and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach with slight abrasions, Nash said.

Traffic was stopped for about an hour during the incident.
