MOUNTAIN VIEW -- A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car on northbound Highway 85 early Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
No information about the rider was immediately available, and investigators remained at the scene near the Highway 237 interchange after 10 p.m.
According to CHP Officer Peter Van Eckert, the rider of a 2004 Triumph collided with a Mini Cooper around 5:12 p.m. The motorcycle burst into flames, and traffic stopped in all lanes. A Sigalert was issued and traffic was reportedly affected until about 8:30 p.m.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody in the Mini Cooper needed medical attention, Van Eckert said.
