The Board of Supervisors voted 4-0, with one supervisor absent, to approve a Lazer Broadcasting project and grant a permit to construct a radio tower on Pisgah Peak, at Wildwood Canyon State Park in Yucaipa.
The decision came during a public hearing held at the board's meeting Tuesday at San Bernardino County Government Center, in San Bernardino.
Opponents of the proposed project by Lazer Broadcasting had appealed a Planning Commission approval to the Board of Supervisors. They've been fighting the project for five years.
Attorney John Mirau, on behalf of Citizens for the Preservation of Rural Living, said the 43-foot tall antenna will be have adverse impacts.
"We have no problem with the radio tower, it's just where they chose to put it," Mirau said. He said opponents have proposed other locations.
Mirau had requested the hearing be postponed until Supervisor-elect James Ramos, representing the 3rd District, can weigh in after he's sworn in next week.
Supervisor Janice Rutherford was absent.
