Sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle on Highway 1 south. That pursuit reached speeds of 90 mph as it went off Highway 1 in Monterey County onto Salinas Road and then onto Elkhorn and Hall roads. The car turned left off Hall Road onto Sill Road into a rural neighborhood outside of Las Lomas.
The car crashed near Miller and Overpass roads and three suspects bailed, running into the rural neighborhood, which includes farmland, scattered homes and is near the Hall District Elementary School.
CHP officers as well as sheriff's deputies from both counties and Watsonville police along with a K-9 did a house to house search of the hilltop neighborhood.
Officers reportedly found a large bag of marijuana near the vehicle as well as a beer bottle, reportedly thrown out of the car, just off Highway 1 at Salinas Road.
Just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office declined to say why they were chasing the vehicle, what the suspects were wanted for, how many suspects they were searching for or whether they were still searching the Las Lomas neighborhood. They also declined to say what kind of car was involved in the incident.
The only information the sheriff's office would release is that they had no one in custody.
