SAN BRUNO -- A San Lorenzo man, 34, was arrested Thursday for trying to lure a girl, 12, and her friend into his car as they stood at a bus stop, police said.

Officers had been looking for the suspect since Monday when a man drove up to two young girls at the stop near 3rd and San Bruno avenues on Monday around 7:15 a.m. and asked them to come with him, said San Bruno police Lt. Geoff Caldwell. The girls didn't get in the car and the man drove away.

Officers watching the area Thursday spotted a white four-door Mercedes that matched the description the girls gave police, so they pulled the car over around 7:30 a.m. Police then arrested Juan Manuel Mendoza-Bermudez for an outstanding warrant and annoying a child, Caldwell said.
