A man who ran into a hotel to escape Torrance police officers during a routine traffic stop has been arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and violating parole, officers said today.
Officers stopped LaShaun Kelly, 22, of Long Beach near the Torrance Marriott hotel, at 3635 Fashion Way at 3:45 p.m. Monday, said Sgt. Robert Watt. The stop was due to a minor vehicle equipment violation.
Kelly allegedly told police that he did not have a driver's license and then ran into the nearby hotel. Officers quickly caught up with him and arrested him. They found stolen purses and watches in his car, Watt said.
