City Attorney candidate and former Assemblyman Mike Feuer suffered multiple rib fractures, a pulmonary contusion and a spleen laceration in the accident on Monday where his car was hit by a Chevy Tahoe that ran a red light, the Feuer campaign said Tuesday.
Campaign strategist John Shallman said Feuer was listed in stable condition and is recovering in an Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.
The accident occurred as Feuer was driving in his Toyota Prius to the swearing-in ceremony of District Attorney Jackie Lacey at USC's Galen Center.
The impact was so severe that firefighters needed to use the jaws of life to get Feuer out of the car.
Shallman said the injuries are not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery and is expected to be released soon.
