Update: All clear has been given, according to NBC Connecticut.

St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown was evacuated Sunday during its noon mass.

Several police officers with guns drawn were located around St. Rose of Lima Church and the adjacent St. Rose Parish Religious Education Center. One cop told a passerby, "I'm hiding in the tree for a reason." Another cop told passerbys to move away from the area.

At 1:10 p.m. about six men dressed in camouflage exited the church's education center and conferred with local police. They officers had large shields and guns drawn.

A reporter at the scene, said police confirmed a threat was phoned into St. Rose of Lima, and church officials have decided to cancel all scheduled activities for the rest of the day. No specific information concerning the threat was made public. Police remain on the scene as of 1:30 p.m.

People can still drop off flowers, police said, to the church.
