LOS ANGELES—Plans are moving ahead to build a light rail connection to Los Angeles International Airport.

A report Monday to airport commissioners offered four potential station sites for a commuter rail line. The station would link to a people mover serving passenger terminals.

Currently, no public transit line runs directly to the nation's third-busiest airport. Passengers must take shuttle buses.

City News Service says airport staff recommend building the station at the airport. Two other sites are outside of LAX.

The Los Angeles Times ( http://lat.ms/XEc8CR) says the most expensive option would be an underground station inside the central terminal area.

A station could open by 2020 if the project receives funding and environmental approval.
