SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—Authorities say a body is being brought to the mainland from Santa Cruz Island, where the Ventura and Santa Barbara County search and rescue teams have been looking for a missing hiker.

KEYT-TV (http://bit.ly/YgFDQb) reports that officials have yet to identify the body and cannot say if it is related to the hiker search.

A Santa Barbara County coroner is on scene Tuesday to begin the identification process.

The Ventura County sheriff's office sent a helicopter to the island Monday night after the National Park Service reported that a 23-year-old man was several days overdue from a trip to the island.

Ventura County deputies found a tent they believe belongs to the missing man.

The search was called off late Monday due to a storm, but resumed Tuesday.
