IRVINE, Calif.—Officials in Orange County say an inmate has escaped from a medium-security jail.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Krause tells City News Service on Friday that authorities are looking for 35-year-old Marvin Manzo, who was found to be missing during a routine inmate count at the James A. Musick jail on Thursday night.

Krause says an extensive search of the jail yielded no trace of Manzo.

She says Manzo has a history of narcotics and theft arrests, but his record is non-violent and he is not considered a public threat.
