ALAMEDA -- A family Christmas party ended in violence Tuesday night when a woman injured three family members with a box cutter, including a teenage girl, police said.
Tiffany Gayle Thomas, 42, was arrested about 10:18 p.m. on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and causing traumatic injury on a child at the Shinsei Gardens Apartments on Willie Stargell Avenue.
No one suffered life-threatening injuries during the altercation, Alameda police Sgt. Jeff Emmitt said. The four people hurt -- three females and one man -- are all related, either through blood or through marriage, Emmitt said.
Police described the male victim as in his late 20s, while the females range from a teenager who is a minor to a woman in her 30s. Their names were not disclosed.
On Wednesday investigators were still trying to figure out what triggered the altercation. But one victim apparently stepped between Thomas and another victim as an argument became heated and was hurt when it turned physical moments later, police said.
