LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles Fire Department officials say a fire in a downtown apartment near Chinatown has left three people injured, including a woman who is in grave condition.

Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the blaze on the top floor of a two-story apartment complex was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, and it took 44 firefighters 13 minutes knock it down.

Humphrey says one woman was in grave condition and two men were also injured, but there was no immediate word on their condition.
