PALM SPRINGS, Calif.—Flights were delayed and operations at Palm Springs International Airport were put on hold for an hour Sunday after a man went past security without being screened.

The airport's executive director, Tom Nolan, said the man was detained and questioned after security breach occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Nolan said he was not arrested because investigators don't believe he had any malicious intent.

The Palm Springs Desert Sun says (http://mydesert.co/X9bqCJ) some passengers who went through security screenings had to repeat the process after the breach.

At least five flights were delayed.
