LOS ANGELES - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the fourth consecutive day after falling 76 of the previous 79 days, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.618.

The average price is 2.9 cents more than one week ago, but 15.9 cents less than one month ago and 2.6 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price rose 1.5 cents on Friday, the largest daily increase since Oct. 7, 1.2 cents on Saturday and four-tenths of a cent on Sunday.

The Orange County average price rose today for the eight time in nine days following a 75-day streak of dropping prices, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.
