SAN DIEGO—A woman accused of a wrong-way highway crash that killed another motorist in San Diego County has pleaded not guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter.

U-T San Diego ( http://bit.ly/VFVi5O) says 23-year-old April Thompson of National City entered the plea Thursday. She remains jailed on $250,000 bail.

Prosecutors contend that Thompson's blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit when she crashed just before 1 a.m. on Dec. 29 on State Route 52 in Santee.

Her pickup truck slammed head-on into a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle, killing 25-year-old Jayme Alan Midlam of San Diego.
