District Attorney George Gascón said Friday that 19-year-old David Morales also faces numerous other charges including attempted murder, evading an officer with willful disregard, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a fireman by a felon.
Prosecutors say officers on Tuesday pulled over Morales' car in the city's Mission District while investigating reported gunshots nearby. Morales allegedly sped off and broadsided another car that went barreling into a liquor store two blocks away.
Authorities say 29-year-old Silvia Tuncun, a passenger in the second car was killed, as well as 26-year-old Francisco Gutierrez, a pedestrian entering the store.
Morales is being held on $10 million bail and scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
