The San Bernardino County supervisors will hold their first meeting of the year on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the County Government Center in San Bernardino.

On the agenda are employee contracts for staff members of new 1st District Supervisor Robert Lovingood and new 3rd District Supervisor James Ramos.

Lovingood has tapped a High Desert newspaper editor as his special assistant at a salary of $152,731, including benefits.

An employment contract for Victorville Daily Press editor Donald Holland calls for him to receive an annual salary of $84,480 and $68,251 in benefits.

Holland said in an email Friday that he has given notice at the Daily Press, where he has worked for the last 18 years, 11 of them as editor.

"I've known Robert for years and look forward to joining his team doing important, meaningful work for the community I love," Holland said in the email.

Lovingood, who represents the 1st District, has been busy assembling his staff since being sworn in on Dec. 3 but has reserved comment until his staff is fully in place.

Lovingood did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.

The board will also consider employment contracts for three full-time field representatives for Lovingood: Curtis Green, Ronald Frame and Ken Anderson. It will also consider a part-time field representative employment contract for Regina Weatherspoon-Bell.

Lovingood appointed Anderson as one of his field representatives last month on a $20,361 contract that expires Feb. 15. The board's action on Tuesday will be on an amended contract.

Lovingood has yet to appoint a chief of staff.

New 3rd District Supervisor James Ramos has also been putting his staff together. The board will also consider on Tuesday an employment contract for Beverly Lowry, who will be Ramos' community services liaison at a salary of $36,875, including benefits.

In November, Ramos appointed Phil Paule, a French Valley resident and former candidate for the 67th Assembly District, as his chief of staff. Last month, he hired as his deputy chief of staff Christopher Carrillo at an annual salary of $161,361, including benefits, and Molly Wiltshire as his communications assistant at a salary of $77,691.

Ramos also hired last month as his administrative analyst Otoniel "Tony" Mejia at a salary of $111,518, including benefits.
