Pomona police Lt. Ronald McDonald says California Highway Patrol officers stopped to check on a car stopped on the Interstate 10 offramp in Pomona shortly before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He says they found the body of 32-year-old Michael Meza of Pomona in the rear seat. He'd been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
McDonald says it appears that Meza was shot while the car was on the offramp. TV reports showed the rear passenger window was shattered.
It's unclear whether Meza was driving but nobody else was in the car when authorities arrived.
