Palo Alto police released a sketch of a suspect who they say robbed a credit union this week as he wore flip-flops.

Officers received a burglary alarm report at about 3:36 p.m at the Provident Credit Union, 2390 El Camino Real, at about 3:36 p.m., Palo Alto police said.

Officers were told that the suspect walked into the bank, displayed a black handgun to the tellers and told them to give him money. The tellers complied, and the suspect left the bank with the cash and was last seen walking northbound on El Camino Real near the intersection of Cambridge Avenue, police said.

The suspect was described as 6 feet 1 inch tall white man in his 30s with a scar near his right eye. He was wearing a white cap with writing on it, a tan shirt, a tan jacket and flip-flops. He was carrying a bright yellow plastic Forever 21 shopping bag.
