The Marin Independent Journal ( http://bit.ly/W140wJ) reports the county announced a $3.9 million settlement with Deloitte Consulting LLP last week.
In 2010, Marin County filed lawsuits against Deloitte, software giant SAP and a former county auditor who managed the computer project before joining SAP.
The county had claimed it was ripped off because the system didn't perform properly, costing taxpayers an estimated $28.6 million by 2009.
The newspaper reports Marin spent $5 million in legal fees to pursue the litigation.
Under the settlement, the county will get a $3.9 million rebate off Deloitte's $11 million fee, and all the county's claims are dismissed.
Marin is still using the computer system, which Deloitte helped the county implement.
