The Los Angeles Kings get to flex their Stanley Cup championship muscles ... but in a different way this time.

From noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, the King's Stanley Cup will be on the USS Iowa battleship to help kick off the new hockey season.

The event is free for the public to view and take photographs of the legendary National Hockey League trophy with the historic battleship's massive guns serving as a backdrop.

Commonly referred to as the "Battleship of Presidents" for having hosted Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, the USS Iowa now becomes the "Battleship of Kings" ... at least for one day. Along with the Stanley Cup, the Kings' Ice Crew will be on hand to greet fans and for photo opportunities.

While viewing the Stanley Cup is free, fans wearing Kings attire will be able to purchase specially discounted tickets to tour the battleship for $10 (regularly $18).

The USS Iowa is located in the Port of Los Angeles, 250 S. Harbor Blvd. The ship is operated by the nonprofit Pacific Battleship Center. Opened on July 7, 2012 as an interactive naval museum at the waterfront, the USS Iowa is open for tours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
