A Redlands man suffered major injuries in a head-on car crash Monday evening.

Firefighters came to the intersection of Wabash Avenue and Sylvan Boulevard in Redlands about 7:30 p.m. after the man, who was in a 2006 Saturn, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle.

The 30-year-old man was taken to a hospital after Redlands firefighters spent about 30 minutes using the Jaws of Life to rescue him from his car, city officials said.

The other driver suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
