VICTORVILLE - A family of four, including a teen, were among 19 the people arrested during an early morning sweep led by San Bernardino County probation officials on Saturday.

Authorities were at the Victorville home on Wrangler Lane in the morning to see if a woman, Sharon Starks, and her adult son, Kelan Scott, were abiding by their probation terms, according to probation Officer Margaret Tagle.

They found Starks' other son was on juvenile probation, she said. A search of the room reportedly turned up a firearm that belonged to Starks' husband.

"Now he wasn't on probation, but a background check did show he was previously convicted of a felony," Tagle said.

It is a crime for a felon to possess a firearm, she said, and he was arrested.

Sharon Starks and Scott were arrested because having a firearm in their home is a violation of their probation terms, authorities said.

The teen was arrested in connection with a different set of violations.

Scott, a gang member, was on post-release community supervision, or PRCS, probation through Assembly Bill 109, authorities said.

The Saturday morning sweep also led to the seizure of at least three firearms - including a stolen tactical shotgun - ammunition, drugs - including 15 bindles of tar heroin - and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies, Barstow police and state parole officers assisted in the sweep.

Also arrested was Joel Saez, a PRCS offender on probation for failing to register as a sex offender, authorities said. One of the terms of his probation was that he not be around children except his 9-year-old daughter.

Officers and deputies found two children other than Saez's 9-year-old daughter at Saez's Nisqually Road home in Victorville, according to Probation Department spokesman Chris Condon.

One of the children, a 7-year-old girl, also was Saez's daughter, and the other youngster, a 13-year-old boy, was his roommate's son, authorities said.

Officers reportedly found pornography in the home, a violation of Saez's probation terms, Condon said.

The three children were all half-siblings as their mother had a relationship with both Saez and his roommate, authorities said. The mother, according to authorities, has not been seen for the last month.

Saez was arrested on suspicion of violating the terms of his probation by being around his younger daughter and the 13-year-old boy and in connection with the the pornography.

Authorities conduct unannounced sweeps regularly to keep track of probationers under their charge, said Condon.

"We are committed to making sure all probationers are monitored, not just the PRCS population," he said.
