A 29-year-old Palo Alto woman was cited Monday afternoon for misdemeanor hit-and-run after striking a bicyclist and at least two occupied cars at Stanford University, police said.

The chain of collisions began at about 4:15 p.m., said Sgt. Christopher Cohendet of the Stanford University Department of Public Safety. It wasn't immediately clear whether the woman struck the bicyclist or the cars first, Cohendet said. Everyone involved declined medical attention.

The bicyclist was struck near the intersection of Campus Drive and Salvatierra Street, Cohendet said.

The woman, whose identity could not be immediately confirmed, was followed by the motorists that she struck, Cohendet said. They provided information that helped police stop her car near Foothill Expressway and Page Mill Road.

Police ultimately cited the woman for misdemeanor hit-and-run, said Cohendet, adding that the case will be forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for review.
