SACRAMENTO, Calif.—State regulators have ordered a Southern California warehouse operator who handles merchandise for big-box stores like Walmart to pay employees more than $1 million in unpaid overtime.
State Labor Commissioner Julie Su says two facilities operated by Chino-based Quetico LLC shorted wages for 865 workers.
Investigators say employees were also denied legally required lunch and rest breaks.
Besides back wages, the Los Angeles Times ( http://lat.ms/125hugY) says Quetico has been fined more than $200,000.
In a statement early Tuesday, Quetico officials say they strongly disagree with the labor commission conclusions and they will vigorously appeal to protect the firm's reputation.
