Police arrested a 39-year-old Stockton man Friday morning on suspicion of exposing himself to a woman near downtown Palo Alto earlier this week.

The woman, described as being in her 40s, reported the indecent exposure incident to police at about 11:35 a.m. Thursday. She said an unkempt and potbellied man had lifted his shirt and pulled down his shorts 10 minutes earlier on the 500 block of Everett Court.

Police searched for the man but could not find him. Detectives went back to the scene Friday morning and found a man who matched the description provided by the woman: white, in his 30s, about 5-foot-4 and more than 200 pounds.

Richard Kelly McCloskey was arrested at about 7:40 a.m. after the woman identified him as the man who had exposed himself to her, police said. In addition to indecent exposure, McCloskey was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for a probation violation. He was on probation for a burglary conviction.

Police do not believe that McCloskey is responsible for indecent exposure incidents on Jan. 8 and 10. The victims in those cases described the suspect as a white male in his 20s with an average build.
