CLAREMONT - Ed Haley, director of the Center for Human Rights Leadership at Claremont McKenna College, will speak at a League of Women Voters of The Claremont Area meeting.

The meeting takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Padua Hills Theatre, 4467 Padua Ave.

Haley's topic will be "The United States in a Changing World," according to a news release.

Haley has served on the staffs of U.S. Congress members, is a frequent contributor to Christian Science Monitor and has wrote the 2006 books "Strategies of Dominance" and "Strategic Foreign Assistance."

The League of Women Voters of the Claremont Area serves Claremont, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Pomona, Ontario, La Verne, Montclair, San Dimas, Glendora, Chino Hills and Diamond Bar.

According to the news release, the league is a "non-partisan organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government."
