Today's main event will be the Chevron Charity Shoot-Out between the World Series champion San Francisco Giants and NFC champion 49ers.
The Giants squad will be represented by announcers Mike Krukow and Dave Flemming; current players Matt Vogelsong and Matt Cain; pitching coach Dave Righetti and manager Bruce Bochy, along with former players Will Clark and JT Snow.
The 49ers squad tentatively is set to feature former players Bill Romanowski, Steve Bono, Harris Barton, Dwight Clark and Brent Jones. Jerry Rice, who was scheduled to play, may not compete.
Starting at 1:30 p.m., the teams will compete on holes 1, 2, 3, 17 and 18 at Pebble Beach Golf Links for a $100,000 purse, with the winning money going to the Giants and 49ers foundations and local charities. The 49ers have won each of the past two Shoot-Outs.
49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was added to the amateur field of the tournament, but he is not expected to play in the Shoot-Out.
Monday was a light day on the tournament's three courses as only a handful of pros arrived for practice rounds. More pros should be hitting the links today to get a feel for the courses. This afternoon we will be talking to groundskeepers to get a better idea of course conditions.
